Think bigger... much bigger!
The blacksmith of
today is literally on the cutting edge - - providing custom tools
to industry and artisans, and producing dramatic ironwork as a
bold art form.
Journeyman Blacksmith Robert Vaughan demonstrates the art and
power of modern blacksmithing.
Watch as the smith works a single piece of red hot steel as he
practices his craft.
With techniques three thousand years old, combined with modern
technology today's blacksmith can produce unique items that
cannot be made any other way.
For some the ring of the anvil brings back nostalgic memories of days gone by. Younger visitors gaze in wonder at the sight of steel made as soft as modeling clay being transformed into new and useful things...
|
Join the blacksmith as they stoke the forge, hammer the iron and resurrect the sights, smells and spirit of blacksmithing at the Gloucester Fair. Look for our blacksmith in the Kidz Zone where you too will...
|
Part
blacksmith, part storyteller and part historian the
blacksmith invites your participation as they work the
red hot steel on the anvil, changing its form before your
eyes... The smell of soft coal smoke, the roar of the bellows and the steady rhythm of the hammer and anvil blend to create a magical environment that will transport you back into the past...
